r <br />COUNCILMEETINQ <br />SEP 2 8 1998 <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: September 24, 1998 <br />¥ITEM NO.: <br />Department Approval: <br />Name Liz Van Zomeren <br />Title City Planner <br />Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section: <br />Zoning <br />Item Description: #2368 Kirk and Susan Otteson <br />710 North Arm Drive <br />Reconsideration of Previously approved Variances <br />This application was reviewed by the City Council at the July 27, 1998 Council meeting. <br />Variances were granted to allow the residence to add a second story. The following variances <br />were required: <br />1. An average lakeshore setback variance to remain 12'-15’ ahead of the average lakeshore <br />setback; and <br />2.A hardcover variance in the 75'-250' .setback to allow 27.69% hardcover to "square <br />ofr the house -.ud to keep the exist ’riveway area and sidewalk where 24.15% <br />previously exited. <br />3.A top of bluff setback to allow ^ .quared off" where approximately <br />half of the residence is located in the requited 30' setback. <br />The applicants' builder was issued a building permit on September 11, 1998. As they removed <br />the roof and portions of the interior they discovered that there were ants in some of the walls and <br />that the floor joists had been comprimised for plumbing and venting. The interior and exterior <br />walls were then completely removed. The foundation and the floor remains. The Building <br />Inspector stopped work and informed the builder that it would need to be reviewed. <br />The applicant's engineer has provided the attached drawing indicating where approximately 8'-10' <br />of the foundation on the east side requires underpinning.
