Review whether there are housing options that can be done at current rural <br />density that can better preserve the City's natural open rural character and that <br />can better meet projected housing needs. <br />3.Actions. <br />a.Obtain information regarding the types of housing that are currently <br />needed and demanded, and that will be needed and demanded in the <br />future, in Orono's rural area. <br />D, Lakeshore development/redevelopment. <br />1. Clarify the Council's vision and identify and prioritize the Council's <br />objectives in relation to lakeshore development. <br />a. Some objectives are as follows: <br />Protection of Lake Minnetonka. <br />Preservation of the current extent of the natural open <br />uncrowded character of the shoreline (minimize the massing <br />of houses as viewed from the lake). <br />Develop more restrictive regulations regarding the <br />height of structures. <br />b. Maintain a range of lot and house sizes. <br />c.Protect existing homes from negative impacts of development/ <br />redevelopment, i.e. height and massing of new houses. <br />Navarre commercial area. <br />1.Develop a general concept plan and objectives related to the future of the <br />Navarre commercial area. <br />a.Clarify/determine the scale and character of commercial development <br />desired. <br />Determine where neighborhood retail uses should be located <br />versus general retail uses. <br />4
