F <br />TO:Mayor and City Council <br />Planning Commission <br />FROM:Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />DATE:September 17, 1998 <br />SUBJECT: Draft Work Plan for the Update of the City's Comprehensive Plan <br />This memo is to provide a general guide to the Council for working through the process of updating <br />the City's Comprehensive Plan. The memo includes a listing of the key issues related to each <br />element of the City's Comprehensive Plan, and potential action steps related to each issue. The <br />Council may want to prioritize and determine the process and timeline for addressing each of the <br />elements and issues. A number of issues require information and analysis, either by staff or by a <br />consultant, to assist the Council in its decision making. The land use element and issues are listed <br />first because the land use issues need to be addressed before issues related to other elements of the <br />Comprehensive Plan can be addressed. For example, the types of land use planned for Highway 12 <br />need to be determined before the amount of sewer eapacity needed in the Highway 12 area can be <br />determined. <br />I.Land Use <br />A. Clarify the future land use in the area on the north side of Highway 12 between <br />Willow Drive and Old Crystal Bay Road. <br />1.Commercial area. <br />a. <br />b. <br />Clarify/confirm "commercial" land use as office vs. retail. <br />Actions. <br />1) <br />2) <br />Obtain input from the property owners in the area. <br />Obtain information regarding the feasibility of offiee <br />development. <br />Clarify the City of Long Lake's plans regarding the <br />redevelopment of both its industrial area and its downtown <br />area. <br />2. Clarify the type of residential development desired north of the Highway 12 <br />commercial area.
