TO;Mayor Jabbour and Orono City Council <br />Chair Smith and Orono Planning Commission <br />FROM; <br />DATE; <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />September 18, 1998 <br />SUBJECT; Update of the City's Comprehensive Plan <br />The process of updating the City's Comprehensive Plan has been moving slowly, although the <br />Council and Planning Commission have been dealing with several of the key issues for a <br />considerable period - those being the transportation and land use issues related to the upgrade of <br />Highway 12 and issues related to land use along current Highway 12. <br />A draft work plan that identifies the main issues to be addressed in the update of the Comprehensive <br />Plan is attached. The work session will be an opportunity for the Council to discuss the role of the <br />Planning Commission in the Comprehensive Plan update process. As part of this discussion, the <br />Council and Planning Commission may want to discuss opportunities for public input during the <br />update process. <br />ji
