r COUNCIL iNu JUL 13 i998 CITYOFORONO Department Approval: Name RonMoorse Title City Administrator REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Administrator Reviewed: DATE: July 9, 1998 ITEM NO: Agenda Section: City Administrator’s Report Item Description: Saga Hill Access Background A condition of the City Council's approval of the most recent grant application for the acquisition of additional open space in the Saga Hill area was that a determination be made regarding the provision of access to the Saga Hill park area. On June 8,1998, a public infomiation meeting was held to update the property owners in the Saga Hill area regarding the access issue and to receive their comments. At the completion of the public information meeting, the Council directed staff, the Mayor, and the City Attorney to work with the Fairview Covenant Church regarding the provision of access to the park area. Access Arrangement with Fairview Covenant Church The Fairview Covenant Church is agreeable to an arrangement under which the City would vacate its existing 10' wide alleyway right-of-way that runs through the middle of the Church property in exchange for alternate right-of-way for an access to the park area from Tonkaview at the east end of the Church property; and under which the City would have use of the Church property adjacen to the park area for park uses for a number of years in exchanp for the City providing for a bituminous overlay of the main Church parking lot, and maintaining the property to be used for park use. The Church has requested the City adopt a resolution setting out its position regarding this arrangement. A resolution is attached for Council consideration. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to adopt the attached resolution regarding an arrangement with the Fairview Covenant Church for access to the Saga Hill park area.
