I
<
If the assessments are not raised from $350 per property served, it is estimated that the combination of funds
from rash reserves and the internal loan will need to be raised from $476,800 to $500,800.
To^^proceed with this project, the City should review the bids and schedule an assessment hearing at the July
13* Council Meeting. The assessment hearing could be scheduled for the August 10* Council Meeting. It
would be desirable to award the construction contract at the August 10* Council Meeting just after the
assessment hearing. However, the City could choose to award the construction contract at the September 14*
Council Meeting, following the 30 day assessment appeal period.
^Ve have worked with the low bidder. Shank Constructors, on new water plant and water plant renovation
projects in Apple Valley, Eagan, Chaska, and Maple Grove, and have found Shank Constructors to be a
competent and responsive contractor. Therefore, we recommend that the City of Orono award the
construction contract to Shank Constructors if the City decides to proceed with this project.
Please feel free to call me at 604-4 /97 with any question about this pioject.
Sincerely,
BONESTROO, ROSENE, ANDERLK & ASSOCIATES, INC.
Cc: Jack Brinkhaus, City of Orono
Barry Rathbun, City of Orono
