city Communications <br />March 20, 1991 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Council Meeting Cab le Casting - This issue was <br />discussed a couple of years ago as to on a tape <br />delay video taping Council meetings and using that <br />tape to cablecast those to the community. Based <br />on the need for volunteers to man cameras together <br />with the limited space in the Council Chambers <br />this issue has been delayed with the possibility <br />of including necessary cameras and communication <br />in any City facility. (It may be worth exploring <br />having the cable company fund at least a portion <br />of any cameras and communication equipment <br />installed at the Council Chambers for this <br />purpose.) <br />D, "City Handbooks" - Given the diversity of the <br />Community and often lack of identity, together with the <br />fact many of the issues such as building permits, <br />hardcover, lakeshore issues are reoccuring that <br />undertaking a City handbook sent out to all current <br />residents and given to new residents possibly through <br />Welcome wagon may make much of the reoccuring <br />information available. Given that things do change, it <br />would need to be periodically updated. <br />ALTERNATIVES - <br />Issue #1 - Types of formats; <br />T. WorksHops <br />2. Town Meetings <br />3. Other <br />Issue #2 - Frequencv/Topics - Attachment B outlines the matrix <br />^t^ntial communications plan during the next year using <br />tlie various media. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that after Council discusses <br />lt7 give direction on which means of current communication they <br />desire to continue and which new ones they would desire to <br />implement. Further specifics will be brought back to the <br />Council's April 8, 1991 Council meeting. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by _, seconded by _, the Council after <br />giving direction to staff tables further consideration until <br />April 8, 1991.
