Mound City Newsletter - Summer 1990 <br />ISSUE - Determine the means by which Council desires to <br />communicate with the public as to: <br />A. Types of communications <br />B. Frequency of those communications <br />C. Cost invested <br />INTRODUCTION - The issue of broader communications was broached <br />back in 1^87 with the result being the initiation of the <br />occasional Mayor's Article series. The issue has again been <br />raised and was included as part of the Strategic Development <br />Issue document each of the CounciImembers has received. At the <br />Council's March 11, 1991 Council meeting a format was presented <br />by Sherokee Use as a reaction piece for a new newsletter. <br />DISCUSSION - Attachment A delineates the various types of <br />communications that the City can undertake with the public. The <br />primary means discussed recently are as follows: <br />A. Public information meetings (apart from regular <br />Council meetings) <br />A. Specific workshops focused on particular topics <br />such as Highway 12 or facilities. <br />B. Town Meeting - Both public input and public <br />information format has been discussed with an <br />Initial meeting set for April 6, 1991. <br />B. N'*wsletters - The City of Orono have over the years <br />has taken various formats for newsletters. These <br />however, have not been long lasting. The issue was <br />discussed as an option during 1987. At issue are the <br />following: <br />Format <br />Size <br />Frequency <br />Cost
