Draft Letter of Transmittal to Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation <br />% <br />ISSUE - Determine if Council desires to approve transmittal <br />letters of its Highway 12 corridor position to the City of Long <br />Lake and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. <br />INTRODUCTI(W - At the Council's March 25, 1991 Council meeting <br />they adopted the Planning Commission's recommendation absent the <br />last paragraph. Staff was then directed by Council to prepare <br />transmittal letters for the next Council meeting. Attachments B <br />and C represent those draft transmittal letters. In addition the <br />Mayor sent a letter of thanks for the excellent work of the <br />Planning Commission. This was transmitted to the Planning <br />Commissi<Hi on March 29, 1991. <br />DISCUSSION - <br />Latter to Long Lake - In the Council's March 25th discussion they <br />i{indicate?# while deleting the issue regarding consolidation, that <br />Planning Commission's recommendation should be referenced in a <br />letter to the Mayor together with indicating the City's <br />willingness to sit down and discuss the impacts of this <br />recommendation with the City of Long Lake. <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation - Given the concern for <br />specifying the design and the discussion as to where philosophy <br />leaves off and design begins, the issue of design is referenced <br />in that letter. <br />ALTCVNATIVBS - <br />1. Adopt the letter or letters as presented. <br />2. Amend and adopt. <br />3. Table for further discussion. <br />4, Choose not to transmitt. <br />RECOMMBNIM^TION - After the Council has made any amendments that <br />they would desire to the letters of transmittal that they be <br />transmitted to the respecitive agencies. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by seconded by that Council <br />I:.- ^ <br />adopts letters ,of transmittal to the respective agencies and <br />dlrectes staff to send those on April 9, 1991.
