In order to continue providing critically needed <br />services to the residents of western Orono, are recjuesting <br />$1,600.00 from Cosnunity Development Block ' .ant Year XVII <br />funds from the city of Orono to help cower WeCAN's <br />administration and community planning cost.^. <br />Last year the City of Orono supported our organization by <br />allocating $1,000.00 from its Connunity Development Block Grant <br />funding. We appreciate the help, and we feel that we have put <br />it to use helping many low*income families and Children in <br />western Orono. <br />gfar in 1990 we neovided the following servloea to <br />* Ebiergency assistance to 6 Orono households (Included <br />vouchers feir housing, utilities, food and other essentials <br />totaling $632.38) <br />• Our Meals-On-Wheels volunteers delivered hot, nutritious <br />meals to 10 Orono households. Neals are available 5 days a <br />week. Our program delivered meals throughout the community <br />in 1990. <br />• The West Hennepin Energy Assistance Office (a part of our <br />time-share office) provided primary heat and crisis <br />assistance to households in western Orono. <br />• Hennepin County Economic Assistance (a part of our time- <br />share office) took applications for APOC, food stampe, <br />assistance and other critical services from many <br />Orono residents. Specific figures on nunbars of )iouseholds <br />served will be available soon. <br />• The Westcnka Poodshelf (which ye co-sponsor) served a <br />total of 27 Orono households with emergency food. <br />• The Pennywise Clothing Shop (which we oo-sponsor) also <br />served many Orono residents with free or low-ooet clothes, <br />household supplies and toys.
