Police Chief Selection Memo Dated 2/6/91 <br />ISSUE - <br />1. Determination by Council as to process desired for Police <br />Chief selection. <br />2. Determine if executive search firm is to be used and if so <br />adoption of a Request For Proposal to be used to determine the <br />cost of such. <br />INTRODUCTION - At the Council's February 11, 1991 Council meeting <br />they tabled the issue of Police Chief selection until February <br />25, 1991 Council meeting. Attachment A outlines issues related <br />to the alternatives for an in house process and one for use of an <br />executive search firm. Following that meeting input was received <br />from Council Attachment B represents a proposed process for <br />seeking Request For Proposal. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Adopt the Request For Proposal based on the process. <br />2. Amend and adopt. <br />3. Take no action. <br />4. Table to March 11, 1991. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that once Council has made any <br />changes that they desire that the Request For Proposal be <br />transmitted and delay any further decisions regarding the process <br />until receipt of the Request For Proposals from any executive <br />search firms interested in further pursuing it. <br />PROPOSED NOTION - Moved by _, seconded by _, that after any <br />amendments Council direct staff to transmit a Request For <br />Proposal to executive search firms that may be interested and <br />have experience in the local area in Police chief selection. <br />Ayes , Nays .
