Lake Use Committee Jonuar/ 14, 1991 <br />•-V <br />it. <br />f'"" <br />vV <br />it <br />:■;. <br />(1) Excelsior Chamber of Commerce LI/8/91 Chili Open <br />(2) Lafa/ette Club 2/3/91 ice fishing and sleigli ride party <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Foster moved, Reese seconded, zo recommend a $1UU refund to <br />Lord Fletcher's for an overpayment on the application for its <br />broomball events. Motion carried unanimously. <br />3. 1991 LMCD Special Deputy Award <br />The Committee received the slate of candidates fox* the <br />Sheriff’s Water Patrol Special Deputy Award to be giv'en at the <br />annual Save the Lake Recognition Dinner, 2/21/91. <br />Cochran moved, Foster seconded, to recommend .selecting the <br />most senior in service of the tliree candidates, Joseph Loemhuis, <br />for recognition. Motion carried unanimously. <br />4. Hater Patrol Report <br />Lt. Peterson reported as follow.s: <br />A DWI arrest when a snowmobile hit a parked automobile. The <br />drive suffered a personal in.iury along with property damage. <br />T >o Water Patrol Special Deputies were injured during <br />snowmob.le speed violation chases. <br />The lake surface is rough and there are pres.sure ridge.s. <br />There are also a number of thin ice areas. <br />Thefts from fish houses are increasing ami an Iriv*'.-.M g.at<.»r <br />has been assigned to them. <br />The fish house count will be started iatei* this month. <br />Peterson asked for x'eports of carp congregations opening the <br />ice so they can be seined. <br />Two snowmobiles went through the ice at Ceton Channel <br />resulting in an underwater search for the presumed drowned <br />operators. The operators had managed to walk away without being <br />noticed,identifying themselves later. <br />5. A. Special Event - Holiday-Johnson Grapple Contest <br />The Executive Director discussed the stipulation placed on <br />the sub.ject contest in 1990 which required the contestants be <br />furnished with a map of the Lake identifying danger .areas duo to <br />lack of buoys in April. The lottery-type tickets for the cofitest <br />are sold over a wide area. It is not possible to get maps in <br />hands of all participants. The contest operators have agx’eed to <br />put a notice in their newspaper advertisement.? cemtioning <br />participants that the buoys will not be in place. <br />Qrathwoi moved, Reese seconded, to recommend rescinding the <br />Stipulation approved by tlie Board 1/24/9U requiring a mop frcin <br />the special event sponsor for the Holiday-Johnson Ci*.3ppie Contest <br />to be replaced by the public caution notice.
