Hennepin County Proposals For 1991 Lake Minnetonka Services <br />and Projects <br />Denis Bailey. Engineering Technician. Hennepin ‘Jountv Lake <br />Improvement Section, presented the 1331 program. <br />A. Slow Buoy Area Bailey presented tlie 1331 ’'low ' buoy <br />placement with no changes from 1390. Cochran asked that the buoy <br />at the Minnetonka Yacht Club be moved further to tiie w^.st. <br />Bailey said he will review the placement but there is a drop off <br />up to 45’ which requires an excessive chain and anchor placement. <br />B. Navigation Buoys There was discussion of public <br />reaction to last season’s'daneer" buoys placard In lieu of channel <br />j^avigation buoys, to max'k channels of 3”1/ C depth oi less. <br />Foster said he found them confusing. Bailey said he placed <br />danger buoys in eight channels in 1390 but believes he will need <br />them in about four channels for 1931. There are some channels <br />in the Lake which the County monitors,although not ail require <br />buoy markings. . , 4. u.Reese moved, Grathwol seconded, to recommend c.»ntinuing t.ho <br />•’danger" buoy, slow buoy and navigation buoy progr.^m on the same <br />basis as 1990 and publicise the purpose and description of <br />danger buoy marking in channels. Motion carried unanimously. <br />C Public Works Program Bailey listed the services and <br />projects for Lake Minnetonka in 1991 in correspondence and <br />detailed report dated 1/14/9'. along with the approved Hennepin <br />County budget for 1991 Lake Minnetonka improvements totaling <br />$174,000. The Committee complimented Bailey for the expanded <br />service and projects program approved by the County. <br />D. Signs In an effort to alert the public during the time <br />buoys are not all in place at the boating season’s start, it was <br />signage at ramps to that effect would b^ .^ppropri.ato. <br />Is prepared for sucli signage at the County public access <br />He will make some extra signs for use at city ramps. i le <br />will be removed promptly when all navigation buoys aie in <br />agreed <br />Bailey <br />ramps. <br />signs <br />place. <br />2.
