J
W
BEVE
LANSCAPING
September 15, 2005
City Planning Department
City of Orono
Post Office Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN 55323
Dear Orono City Council and City Planning Department:
Thank you for providing an opportunity for me to briefly address Mayor Peterson, the Council,
the Planning Department, and all present at the September 12the meeting, with regard to our
entrance gate proposal at 1535 Bohns Point Road. Again, on behalf of the homeowners and the
contractors associated with this project, we appreciate your willingness to examine the associated
codes in how they are interpreted, and how they are applied. As the representative of this project,
I fully understand and accept your reluctance to carry out a public discourse in these matters, as
expressed by Councilman White. But I would like to humbly ask for an opportunity to address
this matter in general, and how it affects our project at-hand.
 ;,.
;, .. _ : :
r i ka sh . .. +
...
  : +
`' _,, -' ` ' X* ,
-- ,
.. , :
 a,e
s . t .
 5 ,n'e `J-. .
ti .-...
 _
 ^ J i
. ; _ i
4 j' _.._"_"_
i't.'.NA.A ' '
:}
  '.
. :
. 'X.. _ __. •• . . , '
Here is a copy of the photograph I sent to Janice Gundlach, taken at the time it was fitted, in
effort to show the context of its setting and its stage of completion at this time. The gate is a
custom-made sculpture, and the columns contain custom stained glass and lamp fixtures. It is
artistic, but it is simply more of a contemporary form of what can be found in neighborhoods
such as Bear Path in Eden Prairie, Hardscrabble Circle in Minnetrista, and other areas in Orono.
Custom wrought-iron, steel, and aluminum gate designs like this can also be found in portfolios
of countless fabricators over the Internet, shown in neighborhoods all over the country.
