Planning & Zoning
November 5, 1992
%)Marina Licenee Compliance Update - North Shore Drive
Marina - Lakeside Marina ^
%
On August 24 the Council conceptually denied licenses for Gayle's
Marinar Lakeside Marina^ and North Shore Drive Marina, based on site
specific issues generally dealing with landscaping plan compliance and
property maintenance. While denial resolutions have yet to be
draf. .d, both North Shore Drive Marina and Lakeside Marina have
resolved certain of the issues, a'j follows:
A. North Shore Drive Marina
1. Some of the ipiicscape plantings have been completed,
and the ow'.ero plan to bring the plantings into
compliance, if :iot this fall, next spring.
2. A fairly extensive cleanup of the property has been
ongoing for the last two months and the area of
questioned hardcover near the county road has been
cleared of gravel, with the intent that it reverts to
grass .
3. Although the baffle weir has not been replaced,
applicants have established a 10' buffei zone of grass
along the perimeter of the lagoon and added a rock
border which should catch some of the debris and silt
runoff before it reaches the lagoon.
While not completely in compliance yet, there has been good
progress towards compliance in the last two months at this
marina.
B. Lakeside Marina.
1. The materials stored in the east side landscape area
were removed shortly after the August 24th meeting, and
the owner has gen'--ally been keeping all storage of
materials and boa_s within the paved portion of the
property and not in the established 5' perimeter
landscape area.
2. Mr. Dunn has indicated to staff that a part of his
problem with the east property line landscaping
requirement is that the City has not adequately
replanted the screening that existed prior to its sewer
rerouting project. Dunn would like to discuss the
landscaping issue with the Council, which may be
appropriate given the potential future uses of the
property to the immediate east of Lakeside Marina.
