Box 335 n ^ <br />Spring Park, MN 55384 <br />Dear Mayor Rockvam: <br />REVIEW AND COMMENT ON CITY WAYZATA^S R^t)EST FOR FLEXIBILITY <br />FROM STATE OF MINNESOTA'S SHORELAND MANAGEMENT STANDARDS <br />As required by the statewide shoreland management standards, the <br />commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) <br />and the City of Wayzata are hereby notifying your city of Wayzata s <br />request for flexibility from the statewide standards as outlined <br />below, and in the enclosure prepared by the city's consultant. In <br />accordance with the rules, the Commissioner and the city must <br />solicit the input and approval of other governmental bodies that <br />could be affected or impacted by the alternate controls. The city <br />and the DNR are asking that your city provide its review and <br />comments, if any, to either DNR or the city within 45 days of the <br />date if this letter. If no response is received prior to then, we <br />will assume that your city has no concerns with the neighboring <br />city's proposal. <br />The City of Wayzata is requesting flexibility from the following <br />statewide standards: <br />1. Lot width, <br />2. Residential density, <br />3. Impervious surface coverage, and <br />4. Building height. <br />Since the city's request is complex, a thorough discussion of this <br />request is attached for you and/or your staff to <br />presented the above requests for review <br />representatives of 11 Lake Minnetonka cities who a - <br />together as a Technical Review Committee for <br />reviewing and discussing individual city s flexibil y <br />affecting Lake Minnetonka.
