The city <br />currently contracts with 4 cities for fire service. The cities <br />of Haple Plain, Mound and Wayzata provide service to the <br />northwest portion, southern portion and eastern portion of the <br />city respectively. The City of Long Lake provides service to the <br />central portion of the city. Staff has completed a preliminary <br />feasibility review of 6 fire service delivery options. It is <br />staff's recommendation that the Council establish a worksession <br />to allow <br />follows: <br />a detailed review of the options. The options are as <br />1. <br />2. <br />Continue with the existing system. <br />Partially expand the service areas of the peripheral <br />cities based on response times. <br />3.Expand the service areas of the peripheral cities to <br />provide total coverage to the city. <br />4. <br />5. <br />Develop a satellite station in the Navarre area. <br />Develop a new agreement with the City of Long Lake <br />to provide Orono with a voice in the administration <br />of the department commensurate with its level of <br />funding. <br />6. <br />The following is <br />alternatives. <br />Orono start its own volunteer fire department. <br />outline of the analysis of thean <br />1.Existing System <br />A. Advantages <br />1.) Fast response times to the area adjacent to the <br />Long Lake city boundary. <br />2.) Long Lake has 2 tankers to serve the area that <br />does not have water service. <br />'3 <br />B. Disadvantages <br />1.)
