STATE OF THE LAKE <br />b\ Don Germanson, President <br />r. <br />1- <br />rr;V ' <br />L, <br />Keep the chatter up! <br />We just stumbled onto a 1988 Metropolitan <br />Council document that had a public access <br />budgeted on Lake Minnetonka in 1991. Why <br />were we all surprised last October when the <br />DNR announced their Maxwell Bay public <br />access efforts? Somebody knew this was a <br />budgeted item. We are not talking enough. <br />Time and time again, lakeshore owners are <br />fined and penalized for placing sand on the <br />shoreline in front of their home, not knowing <br />that there is an approval process to go through <br />with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. <br />Why? Who should be publicizing this <br />process? Meetings are held at 7H)0 p.m. <br />and are open to all members. Call LeeAnn <br />SawM at 472*7221 for meeting locations. <br />Now that the ice is on the way out, many <br />lakeshore owners are placing bubblers around <br />their frozen-in docks. Again, there is a <br />permit required with the I-ake Minnetonka <br />Conservation District. Who should be <br />publicizing this? We are not talking enough. <br />Is it the job of the LMLOA to act as a <br />watch-dog and publicize the actions of all <br />these agencies?
