Ms. Deluca stated that <br />approximately $18,000 will be available to the District for the implementation <br />of this plan and she presented the following five components of the plan: Kin­ <br />dergarten Connection, Early Childhood Screening Supplement, "Educarer” Training, <br />Family Resource Center, and Developmental Learning Opportunities. She provided <br />background information and program descriptions relating to each of these com­ <br />ponents stating that some of these programs already exist but the additional <br />funds will enable expansion of offerings to meet demands and target services for <br />those children and families most in need. Pam Schroeder provided a parent <br />perspective of this program and presented comments from the committee that has <br />worked on this plan. Ms. Deluca answered questions from the Board for clarifi­ <br />cation purposes. <br />UPON MOTION by Don Anderson, seconded by John Maresh, the Board of Education <br />approved the Learning Readiness Plan as developed by the Community Education <br />office. <br />Motion carried. <br />Neal Lawson highlighted the revisions to the 2000 Policy series as a first <br />reading and stated that this series will be presented for Board approval at the <br />February 24 meeting. <br />Or. Mich stated that during the past two years, administration has been in con­ <br />tact with a community group that is interested in the development of a hockey <br />arena on land that would be purchased from the School District. He encouraged <br />the Board to grant approval for administration to begin the process of <br />developing a purchase agreement for this parcel of land, stating that this <br />approval does not sell land but only begins the process and there would have to <br />be Board approval prior to any actual sale of land. <br />UPON MOTION by Martha Van de Ven, secondpd by John Maresh, the Board of <br />Education directed administration to develop a purchase agreement for the sale <br />of a parcel of land of approximately ten acres for use by a community group <br />intending to develop a hockey arena. Administration is further directed to <br />ensure that the purchase price reflect all actual costs to the School District <br />and that the agreement make appropriate stipulations. <br />Motion carried. <br />Dr, Mich and Don Anderson presented the recommended 1992-93 calendar stating <br />that administration has granted approval as well as the Teacher Meet and Confer
