Steven Greenfield, Principal of Orono High <br />School, effective July 1, 1992; <br />- approved the appointment of Gary Bloom as a part-time custodian at the <br />high school, effective December 9, 1991; <br />- accepted the resignation of Tom Portz, part-time custodian at Schumann <br />Elementary, effective February 12, 1992; <br />- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 072877 through 073073 and office <br />checks as covered by vouchers 1734 through 1766. <br />Motion carried. <br />Dr. Mich reported that on January 28 a breakfast was held for area clergy; that <br />on January 30 he had conducted the Advanced Elements of Instruction workshop for <br />about 25 teachers; that on February 19 and 20 he will be instructing about 12 - <br />15 teachers in the 'ntroductory Elenients of Effective Insfriiction and Board mem­ <br />bers are invited to attend; that on February 18, 19 and 20 the North Central <br />Accreditation Visitation will be held and the areas of review are art, science, <br />industrial arts and business education; that he wanted to express appreciation <br />to everyone, especially to JoAnn Ree, who participated in the <br />organization/implementation of the Early Childhood screening which took place <br />last week; that a National Gardening Grant has been presented to the Orono <br />Children's Garden at Orono Primary School and that he wanted to express <br />appreciation to Irma Kelley for her initiative in seeking this grant and for her <br />willingness to instruct students in this area; that he wanted to acknowledge <br />Laurie Hite, Angela Gawron and Vicki Roehl, 1991 graduates of Orono High School, <br />for their achievement in German placement testing at their respective colleges <br />which enabled them to earn college level credits on the basis of their knowledge <br />in German; that he received confirmation from Dennis O'Brien that the State will <br />appeal the school finance lawsuit; that he wanted to distribute information to <br />the Board on Outcome Based education; that former Board member Les Kelley passed <br />away this past week and flowers were sent on behalf of the Board of Education; <br />that on the Consent Agenda the resignation of Dr. Steven Greenfield was accepted
