Item No.: 7 Date: February 26, 2024 <br />Presenter: Adam Edwards <br />Presenter: City Administrator / Engineer <br />Section:Consent Agenda <br /> <br /> <br />Title: Franchise Agreement Extension - Adopt Ordinance 297 <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose of this council action is to approve the extension of the current franchise agreement <br />with Mediacom. <br />2.Background: <br />The city of Orono entered into a franchise agreement with Mediacom for the operation and <br />maintainance of cable television system in 2013. The agreement allows Mediacom non exclusive <br />rights to operate and maintain cable television infrastructure within city right-of-way and <br />easement. <br />3.Cost: <br />There is no cost to the city for this franchise agreement extension, although the agreement includes <br />a franchise fee that funds the council chambers audio visual infrastructure services. <br />4.Staff Recommendation: <br />I recommend approval of the extension. <br />The extension document has been reviewed by the City Attorney's office. <br />AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Move to approve the extension of the Mediacom franchise agreement at Exhibit A. <br />Exhibits <br />Exhibit A.
