29 <br />9.0 ENGINEERING. <br />9.01 Introduction. <br />The City Engineer is responsible for all public engineering and construction projects within the City of Orono. Key <br />areas of responsibility include: Construction; Development of the Capital Improvement Plan (street, sanitary <br />sewer, water main, storm sewer, bridge, and trail improvements); Grading Permit/plan review; Infrastructure <br />Review of proposed Developments; Management of infrastructure; Planning; Project Development; Right of Way <br />Management; and Surface Water Resource Management. <br />9.02 Organization and Staff. <br />The engineering staff consists of the City Engineer and a contract for engineering services with Bolton and Menk, <br />Inc. <br />9.03 Project Management. <br />Efficiently manage the design and construction of city projects. The table includes large capital projects <br />undertaken or completed in 2023. <br />ID <br />Name <br />Project Description Status <br />21-039 New <br />Public Works <br />Facility <br />The project includes the procurement of a site, <br />design, site preparation, utility extension and <br />construction new Public Works Facility. <br /> <br />Design, bidding and award were <br />completed in 2022. 2023 saw <br />substation progress on construction. <br />The project is on track to be <br />complete in spring of 2024. <br />21-040 Navarre <br />Municipal <br />Parking Lot <br />Improvements <br />Originally initiated as pavement rehabilitation and <br />striping project, the work now includes a redesign of <br />the lot layout including new stormwater <br />infrastructure, new pavement, a new traffic pattern <br />and new lighting. <br />This project has been in the works <br />for several years with construction <br />being completed in 2023. <br />191
