The
existing church housed all church use up to about 1987 when Busy Beaver Day Care applied
for a conditional use permit to allow a day care. Day care use was lunited to a maximum 29
student/teacher ratio as building was not sprinkled. In the summer of 1991. a sprinkler system
was installed in the building. The day care now op>erated by the Oron»i School District was
allowed to expand beyond the 29 u.se level. The property was purchased by the Orono School
District sometime in 1992. The church with a limited congregation continues to lease the
structure for church uses on Wednesday and Sunday. The pastor of the church continues to use
one of the offices throughout the week.
