K <br />HENNEPIN <br />DATE: <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />SUBJECT: <br />March 16, 1992 <br />Ron Moorse • City of Orono <br />/ <br />Larry Blackstad, Senior Planner <br />Office of Planning and Developnrent / <br />Urban Hennepin County Community Development <br />Block Grant Program <br />The city of Orono has been an active participant in the Urban Hennepin County <br />program since 1976, the second funding cycle the program. Since 1976 the <br />city of Orono has been allocated $616,398 with another $25,736 programmed for <br />the city from the FY 92 grant. <br />The major program activities undertaken with the available funds have <br />included: <br />Housing Rehabilitation $330,892 47 households assisted <br />Sewer and Water 185,161 Assessment grants withiit the <br />Crystal Bay area. <br />Assisted Housing 30,000 Assisted in acquiring the site for <br />the elderly housing development in <br />Mound. <br />Neighborhood Park 10,520 Bederwood. Hackberry, and <br />Improvements Antlone Parks. <br />Community Planning 43,919 Comprehensive community planning, <br />sewer plan, community trail plan. <br />Public Services 8,100 Funds provided to lOCP, Westonka <br />Community Action Network, and <br />Westonka Intervention. <br />In addition the city has funded smaller activities for the removal of <br />diseased trees and removal of architectural barriers at polling sites. <br />Should additional information be needed or there be any questions, please <br />contact mu at 3A8-5859. <br />LB:dc
