The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />• Communicates with the general public in a professional manor and provide excellent <br />customer service. <br />• Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections and maintenance activity. <br />• Drives trucks and operates equipment of various sizes and weights in loading, hauling <br />and unloading various equipment or materials. <br />• Assists with snow plowing during the winter months. <br />• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. <br />• Provides supervision and oversight of summer and part time seasonal crews for day to <br />day parks maintenance tasks as directed by the Parks Superintendent. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br /> <br />Knowledge: <br /> <br />• Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, <br />and maintenance. <br />• Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, <br />and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the <br />protection of people, data, property, and institutions. <br />• English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language <br />including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. <br /> <br />Skills: <br />• Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to <br />understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at <br />inappropriate times. <br />• Monitoring — Monitor/Assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or <br />organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. <br />• Speaking — Talk to others to convey information effectively. <br />• Coordination — Adjust actions in relation to others' actions. <br />• Time Management — Manage one's own time and the time of others. <br />• Critical Thinking — Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of <br />alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. <br /> <br />Abilities: <br />• Oral Comprehension — Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented <br />through spoken words and sentences. <br />• Oral Expression — Able to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others <br />will understand. <br />• Problem Sensitivity — Able to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
