Mp s ^ <br />HELD ON NOVEMBER 9. 1992 ^ <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Orono Independent <br />School District No. 278 was held on Monday, November 9, 1992. <br />Present:Dave McKown <br />Don Anderson <br />James Franklin <br />Peg Swanson Thomas Mich <br />Martha Van de Ven Neal Lawson <br />John Maresh arrived while the meeting was in progress. <br />UPON MOTION by Jim Franklin, seconded by Martha Van de Ven, the <br />consent agenda was approved as follows: <br />approved the minutes of the October 26, 1992 <br />regular meeting; <br />accepted the resignation of Joe O'Brien, part-time <br />custodian at Orono Primary School, effective October 30, <br />1992; <br />approved the reguest of Mary Ann Bouley, health clerk at <br />Orono High School, for a leave of absence beginning <br />Monday, November 16, 1992 through January 3, 1993; <br />approved the bills as covered by vouchers 076073 through <br />076074 (checks 076075 - 076082 were voided due to a <br />printer malfunction) and 076083 through 076250 and office <br />checks as covered by vouchers 2728 through 2749. <br />Motion carried. Board member Maresh absent. <br />Dr. Mich stated that he had attended the TIES annual banquet along <br />with Dave McKown and Ron Gilbert and as TIES is celebrating its <br />25th anniversary, the District received a plaque acknowledging the <br />fact that Orono was one of the 19 founding districts of TIES; that <br />Board members should look at the pictures from the 7th and 8th <br />grade trip to Washington, D.C.; that Elissa Pool, Orono High School <br />student, received an achievement award for writing from the <br />National Council of Teachers of English; that Jill Dudley, Orono <br />High School student, has had her poem "Albert's Son" published in <br />FRESH TRACKS, a regional anthology of creative writing; that he was <br />distributing an article which addresses the misdirection of <br />criticism of schools; that he was distributing an <br />update/informat ion regarding the long-range plan which he asked the <br />Board to review in preparation for a document that would be <br />distributed to the community; that he wanted to express
