MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD NOVEMBER 22, 1993 <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Jabbour expressed his appreciation to the Planning Commission tor their professional <br />handling of the zoning applications. <br />5)Jabbour also reported that payment for the new facilities is almost complete and project <br />costs have come within $1,000 of the budget. One cold storage building was eliminated <br />to stay within the budget. <br />Goetten expressed her concern for the sun problem in the administrative oft ice and <br />inquired about the status of the order for shades. Moorse explained that the original <br />order was lost by the vendor during a move to a new office location. The blinds were <br />reordered approximately six weeks ago and should be in fairly soon. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT <br />(#10) TAX FORFEIT PROPERTIES - RESOLUTION NO. 3363 <br />Ilurr asked j’oout the access over Highview Road and if it was a fully improved road access. <br />Mabusth explained access was via a small alleyway that is undeveloped. She added it will not <br />be an easy property to develop but is very beautiful. <br />A motion was made by Hurr, seconded by Goetten, to approve the sale of the tax forfeit <br />property and retention by tiie City of the other piece. <br />Kelley asked if the City liad "first rights" to the property if the> wanted to buy it. Jabbour <br />noted the City would have to have a purpose for it. The County contacts the City in case the <br />City would condemn it for road development, sewer, ere. Gerhardson continued the property <br />could be retained for park purposes. Kelley thought the City should consider keeping the <br />property ratlier than "giving it away". Gerhardson stated a buildable property such as this is <br />usually sold. Mabusth explained that there were 10 potential buildable lots on this larger piece <br />of property. Kelley asked again why the City did not attempt to purchase this piece if they can <br />get it for tile market value of $41,500. Councilmembers agreed that funhtr infonnation should <br />be obtained about the possibility of acquiring this land. <br />Hurr withdrew lh.r previous motion. <br />Kelley made a motion. Goetten seconded, to table consideration ol the tax forfeited land, P.I.D <br />07-117-23 23 0001, until further rev ew' can be done. Ayes 5. nays 0.
