He explained
to tlie Comnission that Pic a Pop is requesting approval to
use the existing pylon for erection of a 4 ft. x 6 ft. sign.
The existing pylon is located 35 ft. from the County center-
line and tlie sign as proposed would extend over the right
of way thereby necessitating a setliack variance. Tlie size
of the proposed sign meets the requirements and would be in
keeping witli the area. Mr. Walsh stated tliat moving the
sign back at tliis time u’ould affect parking. He also stated
that the owners would, at their oim expense, move the sign
farther back from the County Road should this be necessary.
After a brief discussion, Hannah moved, Guthrie seconded,
to recommend approval of the sign location based on the fact
that the size is appropriate and the placement as requested
is in keeping with tlie other signs in the area and (''nners
have agreed to move the sign if the City should ever so
request. Motion - Ayes (4), Nays (0).
A1 Olson stated tliat the appliccint is requesting approval
of a variance for construction of a nav home on a lot
that is substandard. 'Die applicant has submitted two
proposals and in each case the proposed house wuld meet
the required setbacks.
^Ir. Upton was present. His ’’preferred plan” would place
the proposed house in approximately the same locatioii
as tlie previous house which burned'down. Tliis location
would be in line with the two adjacent homes and would
meet tlie lalceshore setback requirement.
Tlie Commission noted the existing non-conforming garage to
the back of the property, ^fr, Upton informed them tliat
he would like to use this structure for storage. Given
the fact that the non-conforming garage would be used for
storage and is on a dead end, it was the feeling of tlie
Comnission not to request the applicant to move this
structure.
Guthrie moved, McDonald seconded, to recommend approval of
the ’’preferred plan” locating the proposed house approxi
mately on tlie old foundation in line with the adjacent
homes, subject to no other variances.
