Council Update Cont
November 22, 1993
3 .
4 .
Ponding for the Highway 12 Safety Improvements
The planned safety improvements for Highway 12 require ponding
for the additional run-off to be generated by the additional
hardcover. MnDOT's plans are to place a pond north of Highway
12 in the middle of the City's commercial development area.
The original plan called for an eight acre pond which would
handle all future drainage needs of the entire area bounded by
Highway 12, Willow, County Road 6 and Old Crystal Bay Road.
Staff has met with MnDOT to indicate that the City wants to
preserve as much land as possible for commercial development
along Highway 12. MnDOT has indicated it could reduce the
size of the pond to 4 acres to serve only the increased
ponding needs of the safety improvement project. This would
require all future development to provide for its own ponding.
Staff will obtain advice from a planning consultant regarding
the extent of ponding that will best facilitate future
commercial development along Highway 12.
LOGIS Data Processing Service
The LOGIS executive committee has began a study to determine
the performance of the LOGIS organization in providing cost
effective information processing services to the LOGIS cities.
This study will include a comparison of the costs cf receiving
information processing services from IiOGIS versus other
alternatives. It will also include the development of a plan
for improving the services provided by LOGIS.
