Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Dear Mayor Callahan and Council Members: <br />As you know, I think it is very important that the Cable Commission <br />keep you informed on topics that may have a direct effect on the <br />residents/subscribers in your city. <br />To begin with, the 1994 budget was approved by all fourteen cities <br />your joint powers agreement. This support is needed and welcomed <br />the Cable Commission, as we work to represent the best interest <br />the people in Orono. <br />in <br />by <br />of <br />A number of important items have occurred since <br />Administrator, spoke at your city council meeting: <br />Jim Daniels, our <br />- The Cable Commission has filed one Official Complaint against <br />Triax Cablevision, challenging the $1.29 converter charge that now <br />appears on the cable statement. When the FCC rules in favor of the <br />Cable Commission, as we expect it will, all dollars collected <br />should be credited back to the cable subscriber. <br />- The Cable Commission has also filed an FCC 329 form, to insure <br />Triax Cablevision's compliance with the established benchmark rates <br />for any "expanded tier" of service. We will keep you informed, as <br />information is received from the FCC. <br />- We have been working hard to encourage the FCC to extend the <br />existing rate free2e beyond November 15, 1993. We've been told, in <br />a recent conversation with Congressman Ramstad's staff, that it <br />looks like the FCC will keep rates frozen to March 1994 or later. <br />This is a great step in support of our effort to control rates. <br />_ The Cable Commission has challenged Triax Cablevision's <br />interpretation of the new rate regulation language, regarding a <br />monthly charge for additional outlets.
