4,
if
Page 2AUG M 19 mu
seven countyThe Prairie du Chlen aquifer supplies the 3,000 square miles, »
ground water pumped for public water suppl^T
7 ^nn gallons are pumped dally from this aquifer. That Is approximately
/,500 times more water than we are using. These figures clearly reveal the
magnitude of the Jordan aquifer and the gallons of water available. The U.S.
Geological Survey, titled: "Water Resources Investigations Report 83-4237",
talks of the hydraulic connection" of area surface lakes and th.s underground
water supply. This "hydraulic connection" completes a cycle of water being
extracted for public consumption and replenished by these surface lakes. The
pologlc cross-sectional .nap verifies the location of the Jordan aquifer and
Lake Mlnnetonl^ above, thereby allowing this hydraulic connection to occur.
The geothermal heating system now becomes an effective environmental heatinp
and cooling alternative by re-cyling water used.
4. Pump size — specs on pump:
Red Jacket brand, submersible pump. 10 horsepower. Three-phase power.
Pumping capacity of 150/gallons per minute.
5. Profile of discharge pipe statlon/elevations/percentage on grade:
lagoonfro® George Shoppe showing pipe going Into the
6. Temperature of discharge water - winter/summer:
Temperature of discharge during heating season: 39-40 degrees, U
Temperature of discharge during cooling season: 57-60 degrees.
This is explained In the information submitted by Terra-Therm, Inc.
Method of anchoring ends of discharge line:
Since the discharge pipe has been re-designed to go to the lagoon,
anchoring to lake does not apply, but a similar anchor and stand will be used
in the lagoon, drawing is included.
8. Depth and location of 100 feet discharge line - lake:
Does not apply after re-design of discharge pipe.
9. Submit list of hardships since applicant seeks a variance from the City:
SURFACE DISCHARGE
1. Natural drainage system of the Ulrich property and adjoining
properties would be over extended and undue erosion of
said properties could.occur.
2. Tax hydraulic capacity of the existing pond located on
southeast corner of Lot 1, 1595 Bohn's Point Road.
3. Contamination and degradated water quality by carrying
on shore nutrients Into the Lake.
4. Open water may occur causing dangerous liability situation.
7.
