0 Review of two distinctly different concepts for developing the <br />area south of County Road 51 utilizing the theme of Estate <br />Gardens of Lake Minnetonka, <br />0 Review of a concept for utilizing the area north of County Road <br />51 as a “Nature Area.*' <br />Because of the two distinct areas of che park as specified in the will <br />this Report is also divided into two distinct sections. <br />IV.THE AREA SOUTH OF COUNTY ROAD 51. <br />A.THEME:“ESTATE GARDENS OF LAKE MINNETONKA" <br />1.Why Estate Gardens? <br />In discussing themes for the garden, the Committee was guided by <br />two objectives.First the Committee felt that it was important to <br />provide a garden that would not duplicate the efforts of other <br />gardens in the metropolitan area.In addition, the Committee saw <br />the park as an area that should provide an educational as well as <br />recreational experience for those who visited.In considering <br />these goals, the Committee considered a variety of possibile <br />themes, including the following: <br />0 Victorian <br />0 Old English <br />0 Winter garden <br />0 Minnesota Native Plants <br />0 Estate Garden <br />Of these themes, the Estate Garden theme generated majority support <br />from the committee.Advantages of the Estate Garden theme include: <br />0 It will not duplicate the efforts of other gardens in the <br />Metropolitan area.
