5 9.34 <br />.<<4 <br />L. > <br />,•?>* <br />Subd. 7. Fire Lanes Established. The Council hereby <br />provides for the establishment of Fire Lanes for purposes of <br />ensuring immediate unobstructed access for emergency vehicles and <br />equipment. <br />A. Fire Hvdrants. Whether marked cr unmarked, fire <br />lanes are hereby established at all public or private fire <br />hydrants, which fire lc.nes shall extend ten (10) feet on either <br />side of the hydrant and twenty (20) feet in front of the curb or <br />pavement edge nearest the front of the hydrant. <br />B. Building Exits. Whether marked or unmarked, <br />fire lanes are hereby established at all building exits required by <br />the Fire Code or State Building Code, which fire lanes shall extend <br />ten (10) feet in all direction from said exits. Where larger fire <br />lanes are required, they shall be established and marked as <br />provided in Subparagraphs C or D of this Subdivision. <br />C. Existing Properties. The Chief of Police is <br />hereby empowered to order the establishment, designation an <br />maintenance of fire lanes on public or private property wherever <br />and to whatever extent as he may determine is reasonably necessary <br />to ensure open and unobstructed emergency access. In this deter­ <br />mination, the Police Chief may confer with and accept the <br />recommendations of the Building Official or the Fire Chief of the <br />applicable Fire Service District. Fire Lane Orders shall be in <br />writing and shall be served in person or by registered letter upon <br />the property owner of record, or in the case of commercia <br />properties^ may be served upon the tenant occupying the proper y. <br />Subd. 8. Fire Lane Standards. The actual size, location <br />and extent of required fire lanes shall be determined by the o ice <br />Chief in consideration of the particular access need and <br />tion on individual properties.
