TO:Mayor Callahan and Orono Councilmembcrs <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator '4 <br />FROM:Lili McMillan, Park Commission Member <br />DATE:September 8, 1993 <br />SUBJECT: Friends of Park Award <br />The Park Commission would like to establish an annual award to be given to those individuals <br />who have volunteered their time and effort on the behalf of Orono's parks. This award would <br />be in the form of a plaque which would contain the City ’s logo and an award description with <br />twelve plates for the names of future recipients (see attached). This plaque is intended to be <br />displayed in the Council Chamber Building. <br />The Park Commission would like to present this award annually in October with a brief <br />reception and photo opportunity for the recipients. The Commission has chosen to award the <br />Tamarack Senior Center as the 1993 recipient for their weekly program of picking up litter at <br />Summit Beach and Hackberry Park. We would like to hold a reception on Tuesday. October <br />5th at 7:(X) p.m. to present this year ’s award. <br />The Park Commission is requesting $125.00 from the park dedication ftind to cover the cost of <br />the plaque, an award certificate and food for the reception. <br />i <br />1 <br />__________J
