ORD 286 14 <br />(3)The Orono Fire Chief, or their authorized representative shall be <br />responsible for coordinating enforcement of the fire code set forth in <br />chapter 46, article II division 2, with enforcement of the state building <br />code adopted in section 86-38 and chapter 78 of this Code. <br />(4)Fire prevention.The fire chief may conduct fire prevention inspections or <br />educational programs within the fire service district of each respective fire <br />department consistent with provisions of the fire code, provisions of the <br />applicable fire prevention contract, standard practices of the fire <br />department and applicable provisions of this Code. <br />(c)Right of entry.The members of the fire, police or other city departments shall <br />have the right to enter upon property to investigate a report of or the actual siting <br />of a fire, to take appropriate action to control an illegal fire as defined in chapter <br />58, article IV, or legal fire that has been left unsupervised, conducted in an <br />unpermitted area, or which otherwise poses a threat to the public health, safety or <br />welfare. <br />Sec. 2-142. Public Works Department. <br />(a)The Public Works department is hereby established. <br />(b)The Public Works Department will be headed by the Public Works <br />Superintendent with responsibilities for matters relating to maintenance, <br />management, and operation of the physical property of the City assigned to the <br />department. The Public Works Department will consist of the following divisions: <br />(1)Streets and Stormwater. Responsible for maintenance of city streets, <br />parking lots, sidewalks and care of trees on street rights-of-way as well as <br />the maintenance and management of the city’s stormwater systems. <br />(2)Utilities. Responsible for sewerage collection, water distribution, water <br />treatment, and water meters. <br />(3)Fleet. Responsible for equipment maintenance of City vehicles and <br />equipment. <br />Sec. 2-143. Parks Department. <br />(a)A Parks Department is hereby established. <br />(b)The Parks Department will be headed by the Parks superintendent who will have <br />responsibilities for the acquisition and development of the City's park system, <br />maintenance of all City-owned or leased land and buildings, and the care of trees <br />on street rights-of-way and on park property. <br />58
