ORD 286 3 <br />SECTION 5. Orono City Code Title I, Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-37 is amended by <br />adding the underlined language and deleting the strikethrough language as follows: <br />Sec. 2-37. City Council composition and action. <br />The city council shall consist of the mayor and the four councilmembers. A majority <br />of all the members shall constitute a quorum although a smaller number may adjourn from <br />time to time. Every ordinance shall be enacted by a majority vote of all members of this <br />council except where a different number is required by law. All other actions shall be <br />decided by a majority vote of a quorum at a council meeting except when a different <br />number is required by law. A quorum of the council shall be three or more <br />councilmembers or two or more councilmembers and the mayor, present at a regular, <br />special or emergency council meeting. <br />SECTION 6. Orono City Code Title I, Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-38 is amended by <br />adding the underlined language and deleting the strikethrough language as follows: <br />Sec. 2-38. Salaries of mayor and councilmembers. <br />Salaries of the mayor and councilmembers, effective January 1, 1997, and which <br />amounts are deemed reasonable, are fixed as follows: <br />(1)The salary of the mayor shall be $4,200.00 per year, paid monthly. <br />(2)The salary of each councilmember shall be $3,500.00 per year, paid <br />monthly. <br />(3)Reimbursement for iPad or computer related equipment: The authority of <br />this section is pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 412.241. The purpose is to provide <br />a maximum reimbursement of $500.00 for an iPad or other computer <br />purchase for use in their official capacity and forego their ability to receive <br />a hard copy of meeting agenda information. This reimbursement will be <br />done once per member per four-year term. <br />The computer purchases, reimbursed with receipt for proof of purchase, <br />under this section are the personal property of the mayor and council <br />members. Individual council members may refuse this benefit. Only those <br />council members in office on January 1, 2016 and thereafter will be <br />eligible for this iPad or computer reimbursement. <br />Notwithstanding the preceding provision, a mayor-elect and council <br />member-elect who will take office effective January 1 of any year may be <br />reimbursed after January 1 of any year, for their iPad or computer <br />equipment purchased prior to the effective date of the commencement of <br />their term in office. Also, any mayor or council member in office at the <br />time of the effective date of this section may receive said reimbursement <br />within one month of the effective date. <br />47
