Gaffron, <br />Asst Building and Zoning Administrator <br />City of Orono <br />Post Office Box 66 ^ <br />Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323 <br />Re: Lear Residence <br />File No. 139-1965 <br />Dear Mike, <br />We have reviewed the report prepared by American Engineering Testing, Inc. for the <br />proposed retaining walls and riprap along the shoreline of Spring Park Bay on the Lear <br />residence at 2525 Dunwoody Avenue. The most recent plans for the retaining wall system <br />are acceptable from an engineering standpoint. However, the plans show a dope of <br />1 and we would recommend a maximum slope of 3 to 1 (horizontal to vertical), ^e <br />steeper slopes will be difficult to maintain and would represent a high potential for erosion <br />until a suitable ground cover has been established. Unless the grading is modified, the <br />applicant should provide more information about the type of ground cover proposed and <br />whether or not the slopes will be mowed. If seeding is proposed, we recommend an erosion <br />control blanket be used for the steep slope areas.
