Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />DATE:June 8, 1994 <br />SUBJECT: Demolition of Buildings - Crystal Bay <br />l(o <br />- % <br />V ^ <br />Recently I submitted information for review regarding the costs for lead paint abatement at the <br />old Council Chambers building in Crystal Bay. <br />Council directed staff to contact the appropriate persons or agencies that had previously showed <br />an interest in keeping the building for future use. <br />I have discussed this matter with Marge Gasch. Marge stated that she would pursue funding <br />assistance for the project but it would only work if the City was involved by way of monetary <br />assistance, determining some type of use of the building, keeping the building on City property <br />a.nd pojticipating in the maintenance ot the building. <br />The Citv of Independence and the Western Hennepin County Pioneer Association entered into <br />an agreement for the Independence City Hall. Attached is a copy of the lease agreement. <br />If Council determines that they do not wish to retain the structure, it is staffs recommendation <br />to demolish the building.
