The public inforrnaticm profraxn will be implemented by a Public Infonnadcm Committee <br />which will use the MPCA document, •Community Lnformaiioa and Oitreach fc» the Clean <br />Water Partnership* (June 30, 1989) for juidana in the program. The Committee should <br />consist of a: least nine members from the community. The MCWD will provide two <br />represenutives from its Pnard of Nlanagen in addition to the District Engineer. A request <br />wUl be made by the MCWD to etch of li e following entities to provide one represenative <br />each: <br />City of Long Lake <br />City of Orwio <br />City of Medina <br />Minnooa Department of Namral Resources <br />Hennepin Soil and V/ater Conservation District <br />Minnesoa Pollution Control Agency <br />The Committee, through meetings esery two months, win set goals, develop a long-term <br />plan, and finally implement this plan in order to inform and educate the public on this project <br />and what they can do to help improve the water quality of Long Lake. Some methods which <br />might be considered in helping inform and educate the pubUc may be sending out project <br />newsletters, supplying news releases to local newspapers, giving presentations to local <br />groups/organizations, and possibly undertaking cable television programs. <br />BasH on the results of the diagnostic study, it would appear that some of the most important <br />topics to be covered in the Public Information Program are: <br />Liv^tock Waste Management <br />Agricultural Soil Conservation BMPs <br />Residential Fertilizer Management <br />Residential Yard Waste Management <br />Individual Septic System Maintenance <br />29
