This application is regarding setback variances for the construction a front porch and two <br />additional covered entryways. <br /> <br />2. MN§15.99 Application Deadline. The application was received August 25, 2023 and considered to <br />be complete on October 4, 2023. Therefore the 60-Day review period expires on December 3, 2023. <br /> <br />3. Background/ Summary. The applicant is proposing to construct a new covered porch and cover two <br />additional entry ways on an existing home. The subject property is located in the RR-1A zoning district <br />which requires a 100-foot front yard setback. The existing home does not conform to this requirement and <br />is currently about 70 feet from the front property line. The front porch is 43 square feet and will be 87 feet <br />from the property line. The other two entry ways on the home will be covered by a new roof, but will not <br />expand any hardcover. The expanded roof will not protrude beyond any existing setbacks. Variances are <br />required from front yard and side yard setbacks to construct this project. <br /> <br />4. Planning Commission Vote and Comment. On October 16, 2023, the Planning Commission held a <br />public hearing. The Commission reviewed the application and voted 6 to 0 on a motion to approve the <br />requested variances as applied. Draft minutes from the Planning Commission are included as Exhibit C. <br /> <br />5. Public Comment. No public comment has been received. <br /> <br />6. Staff Recommendation.
