The existing use has been continued <br />since 1966 and will remain the same with the prOiOsed changes. <br />City staff has received a letter of complaint about the use <br />of this property. The owner of the property registering the <br />complaint/ Mr. Hays/ lives adjacent to this property on the north <br />side (area of tennis courts - see Exhibit M). <br />The camp use has existed since the early 1930s and has <br />continued to operate in the same manner as it is in the present. <br />This is for day use camp only. At times older children will use <br />the camp for over night stays for a maximum of 1 week. Also the <br />camp is occupied in the summer by all instructors of the camp for <br />over night occupancy. <br />Mr. Hays* property will not be affected by the improvement <br />proposed within this application. The location of the proposed <br />structure is on the south side of the facility. At this time <br />there is no plan to intensify the use, but only to improve the <br />facilities for the campers. <br />On May 23, 1989, a neighborhood meeting was organized by the <br />Temple Israel/Caunp Teko Camp Committee (see Exhibit N) to discuss <br />Camp Teko. During this meeting, approximately 14 neighbors <br />attended and were given a tour of the grounds and shown the <br />proposed plans for the new building. All persons attending were <br />comfortable with the camp being in this location and only one <br />person objected to the proposal (Mr. Hays). All-in-all, the <br />meeting went well with the neighborhood getting questxons <br />answered.
