I ^ .ff **.T V*"- ' .'4^ :^.v.To; Jeanne HabusthBuilding and Zoning AdministratorMembers of the Orono Planning Commission RE: Application 11370 We received your mailed notice that an application has been submitted to allow Douglas Strelow to subdivide his lot to permit lake access to the 4340 North Shore Drive west of him where a speculation house has recently been built. We also understand that an alternative being considered is the dredging of an old channel to this same propety west of the Strelow property. Our purpose in submitting this letter is to state our objection to either of these two proposals. Though on old plats s channel was identified, people who have lived here twenty five years recall no such channel or remmants of a channel being present. We believe dredging a channel would negatively alter the shoreline. We also do not believe that Strelow should be permitted to sub divide the 4330 North Shore Drive shoreline property. Two years ago Strelow built a permanent dock extending well into the water in front of our shoreline. At that time we lodged a protest to the LMCD. The LMCD representative investigated and determened that this dock indeed was significantly out of compliance in its intrusion on our propety. The LMCD attempted to contact Strelow several times but were unable to overcome barriers to communication. During that time Strelow docked boats east of this dock intruding even furthez over our shoreline. In an already congested cove where there has been no interest in remaining within dock requirements or property lines. We belive dividing this property will only be more detremental to us and our property. Obviously aftre building the current dock, the LMCD has had no influence in requiring the owners to comply with regulation. Allowing further adaptations will only compound the problem. In building the house on the property west of Strelows the builders were clearly aware that the lot did not have lake access. We beliew that the petition should be denied.
