Tillson’s Villa Carman Addition <br />Dear Mr. Cloutier: <br />I have reviewed your letter of June 27. 1995. But I do not entirely understand it Do <br />you mean to say that your lots have not been combined, or do you simply mean that you <br />never authorized the combination? <br />The City’s records show that the lots are combined. The City relied on lliat <br />information when it issued a building permit for the boat house some years ago. The City’s <br />plat maps continue to show that the lots were combined. <br />If you believe that the combination is an error, you should take that up with Hennepin <br />County, since the City has no power to "uncombine" the lots oilier than through the <br />subdivision process. <br />Further to the tax benefit question which you discuss, combination for tax purposes <br />does not improve the tax status of the existing homestead, but could of course reduce the tax <br />burden of the other lots which are joined to the existing homestead by the combination. But <br />ultimately the City’s decision not to issue the building permit is based on the fact that the lots <br />are combined, not the motive lor the combination. <br />082/22086547 6/29/95
