XONUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 21, 1995 <br />(#16 - #2058 Ron Rantz/Autograts - Continued) <br />Smith asked if there would be any materials needing discarding on the premises The <br />applicant said he would need to look into that matter with 3M <br />If a disposal area was needed, Berg asked where this w ould occur Mr V\ aters said it <br />would be contained within the building. <br />The lower level plan for the property is designed as a loading and receiving area, which <br />would be covered and heated Deliveries by' UPS-sized trucks would be made about <br />weekly with pick ups daily The film has to be stored in a controlled environment and then <br />acclimated to the room The loading area would be part of the building itself Rantz said <br />this loading area as well as the shipping areas were e.xcluded from the net floor area <br />calculations Mabusth said the loading berth would not need to be included in the <br />calculations but the shipping area should be <br />Mabusth said in determining parking spaces, if shipping area is included in net tloor area, <br />67 parking stalls would be required It'S presently shown as 64. with 3 more needed. <br />There would be no problem with locating those stalls on site. <br />Schroeder asked how many employees would work in the building The 25-30 employees <br />would be involved in administration and production with 10-15 graphic designers, who <br />would be on a pan-time basis Rantz said 10-15 employees w ould be on the premises at <br />one time <br />Rantz said the building is large for the proposed business to be conducted, but large tables <br />are needed, 20-25’ long to lay out the graphics The shipping area will require the space <br />for vehicles to pull in for installation of graphics being provided for public reviewal. These <br />vehicles would be used as models <br />Schroeder asked if there would be a car w ash on the premises Ran,z said the cars would <br />be sent out to be washed, even in the winter Only slight clean up will be conducted in the <br />building. Rantz said the cars used as models would not be done on a daily basis They are <br />fur experimental use only to .see if the graphic will work on a vehicle Testing the graphics <br />on cars is needed to determine the perimeters <br />Beru asked if the process w as odorless and requires any ventilation. The applicant .said <br />the process is completely self-contained in a sealed controlled humidity The air is <br />recirculated within the building. 3M is said to have an environmental room similar to the <br />one proposed <br />Mabusth asked the Planning Commission it this use was an appropriate use No variances <br />would be reiiuired. and the lots would be legally combined <br />24
