Denn, Commissioner <br />MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br />Transportation Building <br />395 John Ireland Boulevard <br />St. Paul, Minnesota 55155-1899 <br />Re: I 394 Corridor <br />Dear Commissioner Denn; <br />/I W W • <br />TET W 1995 <br />A copy of your letter of June 28, 1995 to Wheelock Whitney <br />(copy enclosed) was recently given to me. <br />I am writing to commend you for planning to announce a <br />preferred alternative for the path of Interstate 394 by December <br />of 1995 and to encourage you not to allow that schedule to slip <br />further. <br />I own a parcel of land which is in the proposed southerly <br />corridor. For years the proposed route has placed a cloud on the <br />property and I have been unable to sell the property. I, and <br />people situated like me, have been harmed by the slow progress on <br />this project.. I was encouraged to learn that you expect to <br />announce a preferred alternative sometime in Decemij^r of this <br />year. <br />I subsequently attended a Policy Committee meeting in Orono <br />on August 16, 1995, at which Val Reinaas told those in attendance <br />that you had indicated in a letter (presumably the Whitney <br />letter) that a decision would be made by the end of 1995. <br />However, she indicated that the staff's work to study the four <br />alternatives and arrive at a preferred alternative could not <br />possibly be completed by December. This was disheartening. <br />It is clear that a decision can be made by December of 1995, <br />only if the current work on a preferred alternative is
