request for COL'NCIL ACTION DATE: May 18, 1995 % ITEM NO: Department Approval: Name Ron Moorse Title City Administrator Administrator Revievred:Agenda Section: City Administrator ’s Report Item Description: Request by Lord Fletcher’s to Use the City’s Public Parking Lot in Navarre Bill Naegle, owner of Lord Fletcher’s, has requested the city to consider allowing the use of a portion of the city’s public parking lot in Navarre to provide parking for Lord Fletcher s staff on weekends. This would involve the use of approximately 60 to 70 parking spaces, by Lord Fletcher’s staff only, on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Saturdays 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and Sundays noon to 6:00 p.m. The staff using the Navarre lot will be trans^ited to ^d from Lord Fletcher’s by shuttle bus. This usage is requested to begin the weekend of May 26. Mr. Naegle has indicated that in remm for usage of the parking lot he is willing to provide for repairs to deteriorated sections of the lot. Lt Cheswick of the Police Department has indicated the arrangement for staff parking and the shuttle bus should work out well. He also indicated he believes there is sufficient space available in the lot at the requested times to accommodate the parking needs. He will direct me officers patrolling the area to monitor the level of parking at various times during the commg weekend to ensure an adequate number of parking spaces are available. It is staffs recommendation that, subject to confirmation of the availability of adequate parkjng spaces, an agreement be entered into with Lord Fletcher’s to enable staff parlang using o 70 spaces in the Navarre public lot in exchange for Lord Fletcher’s providing for repair of the deteriorated sections of the parking lot. In reviewing the lot to determine deteriorated sections for repair, the Public Works Director has indicated the lot has deteriorated to the point that the repairs needed are beyond patchmg of individual sections. What is needed is an overlay. Staff will provide estimated costs for me overlay work at the Council meeting. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to approve the request by Lord Fletcher’s to allow staff parking using 60 to 70 spaces in the Navarre public lot on weekends during the summer months of 1995 m exchange o repairs to the deteriorated sections of me parking lot.
