REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DATE;May
ITEM NO.: /O
%
Department Approval:
Name John Gerhardson
Title Public Works Diicctor
Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section:
Engineer Report
Item Description: Kelly Avenue Storm Sewer
At the April 24, 1995 Council meeting staff was directed to determine the necessary mitigation
if we were to raise the road two feet.
Because of changes in the mitigation rules and regulations as it pertains to right-of-way, we will
not have to mitigate filling within the right-of-way. We will have to compensate for the storage
of water and we can accomplish that upstream in the right-of-way or by other means (see
attached letter from Glenn Cook).
Therefore, it is staffs recommendation to repair the sanitary sewer line, raise the road two feet
and not to construct the lift station at this tune. After the road is raised, we will monitor the
effect of raising the road to determine if a lift station will be needed in the fumre.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED:
To direct the Public Works Department to repair the sanitary sewer line as necessary and to
raise that section of Kelly Avenue as previously described two feet. The funds to repak the
sewer line will be paid from the Sewer Operating Fund and the raising of the road will be
funded from the General Fund.
