/I <br />^3 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CLOSURE OF <br />OLD BEACH ROAD TO THROUGH TRAFFIC <br />WHEREAS, there is a serious traffic safety problem on Old Beach Road due to <br />high traffic volume, inadequate roadway design, and traffic speed, and <br />WHEREAS, there are traffic safety problems related to a very high volume of <br />unprotected turns to and from Old Beach Road and County Road 19 and 15, and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that the optimum solution to these safety <br />problems is to restrict or eliminate Old Beach Road as a connection between County Road 15 <br />and 19, and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that the most effective method of <br />restricting/eliminating the use of Old Beach Road as a connection between County 15 and <br />County 19 is to install a cul-de-sac at the County 19 end of Old Beach Road. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council does <br />hereby approve the installation of a cul-de-sac at the southern end of Old Beach Road to <br />eliminate through traffic on Old Beach Road for the purpose of addressmg senous traffic safety <br />problems. <br />of May, 1995. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono at their meeting on the 8th day <br />ATTEST:Edward J.
