IV. <br />i <br />K1 <br />MM <br />VILUGE OF ORONO <br />Rei^lar Meeting of the Park Conraissio. <br />October 17, 1972 <br />Tlie Pfl'k Connission net on the above date <br />with the following nenbers present: Chair- <br />nan Ogland, Hallowell, Jarl, Lcipold, Mastny^ <br />Panuska, Watson, and Wysocky, Absent: Ophexn, <br />Stanke, and White. <br />No neoting of the Park Comission was held in <br />Septeicber due to a date ciiange. <br />The Minutes of the regular meeting of August IS, <br />1972, were corrected as follows: Janes Gilbert, <br />Naturalist, is charging the Village only $10P <br />for his services on Highwood. Motion, Ayes (8) - <br />Ways (0). <br />Mastny made a layout of Hackberry Park and showed <br />it to the Lions Club of Long Lake. T/iey have <br />appointed a committee to work with us. Mastny <br />will meet with the conaittee and bring in their <br />ideas. They will work out a plan this winter. <br />The Lions Club wants the Park Commission to put <br />in the backstop and they will then try to pick <br />up from there. They are concerned that a fence <br />be added along Willow Drive. The backstop <br />has arrived but some parts are missing and had <br />to be back ordered. Benson will try to put <br />it in as soon as they arrive. <br />Ogland reported that the Village Council yt&nts <br />to be loiowledgeable about what the Park Commision <br />is doing. Therefore, we have a responsibility <br />to plan carefully and to keep* tK?m informed. <br />Ogland would like to invite Tom Loucks and Paul <br />Fjare to come tv our next meeting so that we can <br />review our id^as witli them. <br />Wysocky walked through the Highwood area with <br />Jim Gilbert and ho has tentatively laid out <br />paths. He recommended that we call it Highwood <br />Paths and not park. He suggested that we have <br />a cul*de*sac at the entrance big enough for <br />a bus to park and turn around. Benson prefers <br />not working on the area until we have a hard <br />freeze; however, we are anxious to work on the <br />area this fall as people have been doing some <br />dumping there. Benson will be there with Gilbert <br />when th9 paths are laid, which they hope to do <br />in November.
