MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 12, 1994 <br />(#21) STUBBS BAY SEWER CONNECTION GRANT PROGRAM <br />Moors£ reported this progrsin was de*/doped to assist those residents who (]ualificd at <br />50*/« of median income. Median income is a f«leral guideline from HUD specific to our <br />metropolitan area and also based on the individual's number of dependents. Five <br />Qualified for the program and four actually received a grant. At this tune, a <br />balance of $19,999.72 remains. Staff recommended now offering the grant to those with <br />incomes up to 80*^^ of the median income. Staff suggested the Council consider <br />increasing the SI 500 grant limit. The initial plan was to provide a SI 500 grant to those <br />with incomes greater than 50% of the median income but less than 80% of median <br />income. <br />The Council determined that the City should notify those residents who qualify at the <br />80% median income guideline. Applications shall be taken, and the $1500 grant amount <br />will then be reevaluated. <br />(#22) EMPLOYMENT OF FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER <br />This item was to be discussed during the Executive Sesrion. <br />(#23) 1995 MEETING SCHEDULE <br />The 1995 meeting schedule approval was tabled to the January 9, 1995 when full Council <br />is present. Moorse will move ahead with the present schedule. It was noted that the <br />School District will hold their meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each <br />month. <br />(»#24) ANNUAL REPLACEMENT OF POLICE SQUAD CARS <br />Callahan moved, Jabbour seconded, to approve the purchase of two Ford Crown Victoria <br />cars in 1995. Ayes 3, Nays 0. <br />(•#25) CITY FACILITIES ITEMS UPDATE <br />Moorse memorandum updated the Council on Staffs continuing efforts in obtaining <br />reasonable price quotes for heat tape at the public works entrance, police squad phig-ins, <br />and a light standard in the police department staff parking lot. Moorse reported the <br />police department and public works are working together to develop a plan fi>r storing <br />the police squads indoors. <br />(•#26) TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY - P.LD. 17-117-23 44 0094 - RESOLUTION <br />#3509 <br />CaUahan moved, Jabbour seconded, to adopt Resolution #3509 requesting an extenaon <br />of the deadline for City action. Ayes 3, Nays 0.
